Movies

March 13th, 2010

I really enjoy watching movies that really pull me in and make me forget about everything else around me. Those are the kind of movies that I watch and maybe I sit forward and squint my eyes just a little bit without realizing it because I get really into them. Then, once they’re over, I kind of just snap out of this trance-like feeling and I look around in all directions and then I remember I have a life, I check what time it is, and all these other things. It’s almost like waking up from a really good dream. That’s how I felt last night after I finished watching Magnolia for the first time (thanks to Chris, who demanded that I watch it).

After soul searching and a lot of heavy breathing

My other blog — formerly known as Oh, Nice! — is now known as Your Favorite Pie and it has a new home here. Savvy?

Remember when I said I’ll continue my downsizing efforts during Spring Break? Haha. I changed my mind. I just decided to go a on PROPER VACATION instead. Plans developing. All I know is that I’m going to deactivate Facebook, turn on an out-of-office e-mail reply, and avoid Twitter for a week.

Spring Awakening

February 28th, 2010

I hate excess.

In the past few months, I’ve been into downsizing and re-organizing what I have. This is just a round-up of the things I’ve done and what I will be doing.

Already Done

  • Given away books I know I’ll never read again.
  • Recycled collaterals (flyers, catalogs, etc.) I don’t need.
  • Re-organized my art supplies in my portable art bin.
  • Designated a place to put (a lot of) scrap paper.
  • Cleared my desk for only the most needed things.

Still Need To Do

  • Donate the jewelry I’m not interested in wearing anymore.
  • Give away clothes and bags I don’t like anymore.
  • Donate the art supplies I don’t use.
  • Organize manuals and other papers in their own designated folders.

Now that Spring Break is near, I’m planning on taking care of the remaining things I need to do.  There’s something so therapeutic about letting go of stuff. Doing it just shows me the importance of thinking not twice but THRICE about buying new things and keeping old things. SO GLORIOUS.

I love the way the mouths of the “Chicken Run” chickens look…

Yesterday I had an opportunity to watch the animated short films nominated for Oscars this year! Yay! One of my most favorites is Logorama and it is quite spectacular (even more spectacular from my outlook because I dig design).

Here’s a forty-five-second preview.

I want to get excited about a new backpack again

February 23rd, 2010

When I was in middle school and high school, one of the only great things about each new school year was the thought of getting a new backpack, but then those good days disappeared and I got into one-shoulder bags and totes. Now that I have so much stuff and I hate carrying my laptop separate from everything else, I’m setting my eyes on a good, durable and non-camouflage-printed laptop backpack that I’m going to use very often and my eyes are set on Incase’s Compact Daypack (as seen on Wejetset) with laptop storage and compartment space. I need a break from one-shoulder carrying and I need to satisfy my perpetual need to organize stuff. And backpacks with compartments are good for that.

Brb, drooling.

On a separate note, I cleared everything off my desk except for speakers, my current books, Moleskines, and one notebook (that will be handy one day). It feels so nice. I took a picture of my newly-minimal-fied desk and then I ended up taking more pictures. Hence, an impromptu tour of the things at my desk…

Because you never have enough pocket notebooks. To be honest, I only use one of them right now because I can only use so many at one time.

My favorite highlighter!

The envelope opener I use. I hate the sound it makes when it’s slicing through the paper, though.

Little Liberty! A souvenir from the Statue of Liberty souvenir shop.

My Touch and the spectacular wallpaper!

Sometimes I wonder if I’m the only twenty-year-old who uses an address book.

An inside view of one of my Moleskine cahiers. This one shows my spider charting during brainstorming.

The book launch party for I Swear to Good You Are God at This (a book authored by my boss for one of my internships) was last night and I came home to a good kind of body aching (if that makes any sense) with a good batch of photos from the event. I purposely took the long way home so that I could spend a little while longer sitting down in the driver’s seat. Here are photos from set-up as a preview. I’ll post the party photos once we’ve pushed all party photos by the other friends and photographers live in some time with added logos and all that jazz.

Waiting to set up…

A late night craving

February 16th, 2010

I’m laying in bed with my laptop sitting on top of my thighs and I have the sudden desire to play with LEGOs. I’m not sure why. I don’t even want to continue writing this post because all I want to do is fool around with LEGO pieces.

Each week there’s something new to bring me clarity

I made my doppelgänger on Facebook the Crypt Keeper

February 9th, 2010

I think one of the reasons why I enjoy doing web design and development for other people is because I need opportunities to fulfill my constant need to create new layouts (as evidenced by what I like to call the 2.0 version of the 4.0 version of the website for my art, design and photography). After toying around with the layout, I finally settled.

No, really. Now that I’m settled with that, I can focus on other projects and work I have planned out. One of them involves craft googly eyes and the other has to do with stoned people explaining Lost.
